3 - 4 hours
South Africa consists of many diverse cultures. At a cost of Rpp, you can experience the Afrikaner Culture at the Boeremark (Farmers’ Market). The Afrikaner comes predominantly from a farming background where the day starts early in the morning. Your visit will start in the same manner. Rise early (pick-up at 05:30 in the summer mornings and 06:00 in winter) to visit the Boeremark . You can browse around the numerous open-air stalls to see Afrikaner products and typical Afrikaner foods. Indulge in a wonderful aroma-filled cup of moerkoffie (ground coffee) to wake up properly, have a helping of melkkos (milk food) and buy tasty biltong (a favourite amongst Afrikaners and many South Africans) to nibble on during the day. If you are adventurous and not not concerned about always eating healthily, a helping of Pap and Kaiings (maize meal and fried fat) is also available. not See a number of plants, vegetables and flowers grown in South Africa. By 09:00 you can be out of there, wide awake, in a good mood (spurred on by the cup of moerkoffie) and ready for the rest of the day, which can consist of a Pretoria or Johannesburg tour (see elsewhere on this site), or a mountain bike cycle or hike on one of our exciting trails in the Pretoria area. Details of these activities are elsewhere on this site.
